Position Description

As an SAP System Administrator, you will be responsible for working within the framework of a team and performing the following activities:

  • Upkeep, configuration, and reliable operation of computer systems; especially multi-user computers, such as servers and any auxiliary devices
  • Maintain customer service standards, practices, techniques and procedures
  • Install, test, maintain, migrate, and/or consolidate data center software
  • Monitor vendor sites for new releases, patches, and product announcements
  • Install, test, maintain, and repair data center hardware such as physical servers, storage, networking equipment telecommunications and peripherals
  • Monitor and maintain the integrity and availability of all hardware, server resources, systems and key processes
  • Maintain security of assigned hardware, software and network systems
  • Perform ongoing performance tuning, hardware upgrades, and resource optimization as required; configure CPU, memory and disk partitions as required
  • Work with team members, technical staff, and vendors to perform or assist with diagnosing and resolving errors, malfunctions and disaster recovery of assigned systems
  • Coordinate all planned activities with team members and IT department as appropriate
  • Develop and provide technical training and supports; provide backup to department staff as needed
  • Prepare and maintain documentation, records, and reports related to assigned systems, service requests, project status and assisted activities
  • Integrate equipment and ensure adaptation with the existing IT infrastructure

Position Requirements

This position requires the following skills and attributes:

  • Minimum 5 years of System Administration
  • Microsoft Windows and Red Hat Linux remote installations
  • Working knowledge or familiarity with IPMI (remote management tools)
  • Experiance implementing Linux network redundancy like Bonding, Teaming etc.
  • Mirroring and striping non-VM disks, Architecting Linux LVMs, Setting up xfs file systems
  • Experience with technical deep dives into system performance bottlenecks
  • Experience with backup and DR concepts such as RTO, RPO, Run-books, Testing & Validation, Business Continuity and High-Availability
  • Backup management using 3rd party backup managers
  • Experience with monitoring tools and frameworks (Solarwinds, Splunk, Elk, etc.)
  • Knowledge of data center and cloud-connected infrastructure (examples include: hyper-converged systems, servers, routers, NAS/SAN systems, switches (physical and software-defined), firewalls, web and spam filters, load balancers, server and desktop virtualization, and cloud computing
  • Setting up VMware VMs
  • Knowledge of data center software (examples include: operation systems (Microsoft Windows and Linux/UNIX), patches, virus protection, Microsoft Office platforms (SharePoint and Teams), Active Directory, DHCP, DNS, Microsoft Exchange, ID management systems, and databases (Microsoft SQL, Oracle, Postgress)
  • Knowledge with SAP systems is desired
  • Knowledge of IT service processes (ITIL) and best practices
  • Work independently with little direction
  • Work on multiple projects simultaneously
  • Ability to be flexible in work schedule and assignment. This could include after-hours and on-call work


The following skills and attributes are preferred:
