Position Description

As an Electrical Engineer, you will be responsible for working within the framework of a team and performing the following activities:

  • Designs electrical power, lighting, and low voltage systems for office and industrial functions supporting medical device design and manufacturing
  • Survey existing Electrical Equipment and Systems in preparation for designs for alterations and additions
  • Survey Record Documents in preparation for designs for alterations and additions
  • Assist in preparation of conceptual Electrical Power scope of work during feasibility phase
  • Design Electrical Power alterations and additions to existing facilities
  • Prepare documents for plan check submittal using AutoCAD 2020
  • Prepare electrical specifications
  • Prepare photometric maps using lighting analysis software
  • Prepare energy compliance forms
  • Design low-voltage pathway alterations and additions to existing facilities
  • Review Requests for Information during the course of construction
  • Review Electrical Shop Drawings, Product Data, and Samples submittals during the course of construction
  • Review designs prepared by contracted consulting electrical engineers for constructability
  • Assist Facilities Construction in field verification of electrical work at appropriate stages of construction
  • Participate in revising and updating AMR's Facilities Design standards when needed
  • Survey existing electrical equipment and systems to verify existing conditions
  • Update electrical power system Record Drawings
  • Consults with Facilities Design Team regarding feasibility of potential alterations or additions to facilities
  • Consults with Facilities Maintenance in-house and contracted crews regarding Electrical Power, Lighting, and Communications distribution systems


Position Requirements

This position requires the following skills and attributes:

  • 5 years, minimum, designing electrical power, lighting systems, and communications pathways
  • Bachelor degree in electrical power engineering from a university accredited by Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology or the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers
  • Knowledge of Construction Specification Institute (CSI) format related to description of facilities electrical power, lighting, and communications cabling.
  • California Electrical Code
  • California Energy Code
  • Experience with AutoCAD 2020
  • Lighting software, such as Visual or AGi32
  • Electrical Design software, such as SKM Power Tools
  • Knowledge of detailing and drawing standards
  • MS Outlook, Word, Excel



The following skills and attributes are preferred:

  • Professional Engineer with current License to practice Electrical Engineering in California
