MRO Procurement Manager

Position Description

As a MRO Manager, you will be responsible for working within the framework of a team and performing the following activities:

  • Support the procurement activities for all divisions and departments within the manufacturing, product development, distribution and administrative environments by obtaining and analyzing competitive bids, negotiating terms, placing orders and follow-up
  • Review incoming requisitions and check for valid account numbers and appropriate signature levels
  • Input purchase order data into SAP system for completion of P.O. form and distribute P.O.’s
  • Ensure proper purchase order supporting documentation is always maintained
  • Identify new source of supply or projects related to cost savings opportunities
  • Guide and mentor Strategic Procurement team members
  • Prepare paperwork to open new accounts and provide release information to suppliers
  • Obtain quotes and place orders for all required products
  • Assign projects and tasks to members of the Strategic Procurement team
  • Negotiate purchases with suppliers for best possible outcome for Applied
  • Follow up on past due purchase orders
  • Represent Strategic Procurement on cross-functional teams
  • Negotiate more complicated agreements and contracts with suppliers
  • Perform other duties & responsibilities as required

Position Requirements

This position requires the following skills and attributes:

  • Bachelors' degree in business or related field, or equivalent experience
  • Minimum 8 years of progressively responsible purchasing experience, preferrably MRO
  • Experience in leading a team of direct reports
  • Minimum 3 years of purchasing experience in a managerial role
  • Proven experience and knowledge of purchasing, sourcing, and accounting related processes
  • Strong written and oral communication skills, and ability to work well on cross-functional teams
  • Knowledge of SAP ERP System (Purchasing Module)
  • Ability to operate a computer using Microsoft Outlook, Word and Excel
  • Manual coordination skills to operate standard office equipment
